So start by increasing activity level in an overall way. Always take the stairs when you can. Park further from the mall door when you are going for shopping. Make sure that you go for a walk in the park or through a neighborhood you love and you can very well bring a dog or a friend along for company.

Alternatively you can also take a dance or martial arts lessons. So once you become more active in general, you will really find it easier and more natural to move into regular exercise. This you will need to do eventually in order to get regular and noticeable health benefits.

Again one need to raise ones heart rate to fat burning level, and keep it there for at least twenty minutes, 3 times or more a week. Now however, if you don’t want to go to a gym, there are other options which I am going to discuss now.

These there are videos and DVDS which are available for all kinds of exercise types. If you use them you can change your routine whenever you want so that you don’t get bored with what you are doing. Make sure that try a range of aerobics, kickboxing, yoga or pretty much any activity that you want right in the comfort of your own home.

Again if you have physical limitations that would keep you off from exercising, then you can still find a way to increase your activity level. Water aerobics is really a wonderful option for those of you who have joint problems or limited mobility since it relieves the pressure on your body that your weight provides.

However you still get the resistance to challenge your muscles from the water. There are even classes and videos available that let you exercise in a seated position. So whatever kind of exercise you opt for and you choose, it really important that you stay motivated and keep it fun.

Always try gathering a group together in order to make it a social event. Make sure that you get a pedometer, which is a device that tracks how far you walk and see how many miles you can walk a week. You can very well make a competition amongst your friends or family members and treat the winner with something special and please not food related.

A number of years ago, when I was about losing my own excess weight, I decided to remove all of the foods from all of the cupboards which I was aware that I needed to stop eating. I also removed certain drinks such as alcoholic drinks which I generally keep for my guests and this also sometimes which contributed to my weight problems.

So I put them all into the dustbin all of the takeaway menus that I had basically attempted to make it really hard as possible for me to eat or drink anything that I should not have been. When out and about I had to be determined to keep my diet and to not be tempted to buy any of these items from the shops.

This was not really easy for me as I am somebody who loves all fatty type foods. So in my weekly food shop I bought far more fruits and vegetables and was surprised at how quickly my taste buds started to change.

So I soon looked forward to eating an apple and my weight slowly but surely started to reduce. So after a number of months I reached a weight that I was really happy with. My family members urged me that I should start eating items such as dry roasted peanuts which at one point of time was a favorite of mine.

Yes, this was possibly true but this could easily result in return to my old bad habits and for course weight problems. So I decided to stick with the fruits and vegetables in my cupboard and now I am free from all those foods that I used to love to eat but which was not really good for my weight.
