bacterial vaginosis- the things that you don’t know about it.
Bacterial vaginosis is
a dreaded term among women folks and it is a nightmare among girls. I
completely understand what a woman has to go through when she is suffering from
BV. I have my regards and sympathies for them and this article is exclusively
dedicated for those who are suffering from BV. All I need to say is that if you
are suffering from BV why not try to combat it rather than silently suffer from
it. So are you ready?
As per popular findings the various diagnosis of BV
includes-
§
Normal discharge caused among women in general.
§
Yeast infection which is popularly known as
thrush or candidacies.
§
Trichomoniasis which is basically an infection
caused by trichomonas vaginalis.
Almost half of the women folk suffer from bacterial vaginosis and this is
asymptomatic for them. As per my finding and research the most and very common
symptom of BV is basically an abnormal homogeneous off white discharge from
vagina. This takes place mainly after vaginal intercourse and as per my
findings it is accompanied by an unpleasant and usually fishy smell.
If you are going for a clinical diagnosis where amsel
criteria is mainly applied and used you will experience the following symptoms-
·
You will surely experience a thin, white, yellow
homogeneous discharge.
·
Clue cells which can very well be observed on
microscope.
·
The ph value of vaginal fluid will surely be 45.
·
There will be a release of fishy odor
·
Addition of alkali along with 10% potassium
hydroxide or KOH solution.
Let me assure you if either of the three criteria’s are
present you can very well be assured that this is a confirmed diagnosis.
This discharge is basically malodorous in nature which coats
the wall of your vagina. Bacterial
vaginosis mainly causes significant irritation,
pain and redness which are commonly known as erythema. Sometimes one
experiences a mild itching. It is observed that vaginal discharge vary in
consistency throughout the menstrual cycle. This mainly takes place during the
ovulation that is exactly two weeks before the period starts.
